I chair the board of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (Canada), a charity (BN 861876357RR0001).
Our Mission Lewa Canada's main mission is to support endangered wildlife conservation, community education, healthcare and development in East Africa. Lewa Canada is managed by an all-volunteer board. We support projects that empower local communities to value their wildlife, attract tourism and better their lives. The types of projects we support range widely from funding endangered species monitoring and conservation to developing solar powered water and irrigation system for communities, health clinics, schools, literacy programs, micro-credit, and much more. Lewa Canada acts through qualified agents in Kenya, including the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC), the Northern Rangelands Trust, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Tsavo Trust, the Zoological Society of London--Kenya (ZSL-Kenya). The all-volunteer efforts of Lewa Canada's Board and Advisory Council have enabled the transfer of over 98% of all funds received to projects in Africa. About THE LEWA WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY (KENYA) www.lewa.org Our main agent in Kenya is the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC). It works as a catalyst for conservation. It does this through the protection and management of species and their habitats, the support of community conservation initiatives, and the education of neighbouring communities in the value of wildlife. The LWC is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary in Kenya covering 62,000 acres. The principal activities of the Conservancy are wildlife conservation and land management combined with extensive community education and health services.
